This past Christmas season was so wild and busy that we didn't even get a chance to go on an outing to "see the lights". The picture is from the Christmas 2010 season when we went to Temple Square for the first time in years. In fact, I don't think we had ever taken Dallin and David. It was a very cold evening, but we all enjoyed the beautiful lights and going through the Temple Square Visitors Centers. I love to see the Christus statue anytime, but it is really special during the Christmas season.
Each year we try to do an activity that will help us focus on Jesus Christ during the Christmas craziness. This year, we borrowed and idea from the Friend magazine. we took a large sheet of poster board and drew and colored a large Christmas tree. Then we cut out circles on colored paper to be our ornaments. During the week before Christmas, each member of the family would write down an event from the life of Jesus Christ on an ornament and stick it on the tree. On Christmas Eve after we read the Christmas story in the Bible, we read what everyone had written on the ornaments. I was amazed and so pleased at all of the very insightful things the children, Todd and I had been able to write down. No one could write what someone else had written, so we had almost 50 different events/deed from Christ's life. It really helped our Christmas stay focused on Him who has blessed us all.
